Issue No. 1 Vol. 29: National Council for Adult Education Journal (NCAEJ) 29, Issue 1, October 2025.

It is with great pleasure that I present this issue of our journal, featuring a selection of insightful and forward-thinking research articles that were originally presented at the 2024 NNCAE Annual National Conference, held at the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria under the theme “Expanding the Novel Orbits and the Reach of Adult Learning and Education for Humanization.” The discussions at the conference underscored the critical role of adult education in responding to the dynamic and complex challenges posed by rapid global changes ranging from technological advancement to economic and social inequalities, and from environmental sustainability to public health issues by creating novel orbits and increasing the reach of adult learning and education for humanization. The articles compiled in this issue reflect the innovative strategies, theoretical advancements, and practical interventions aimed at rethinking and reshaping adult education to meet the evolving needs of societies. These contributions highlight the multifaceted ways in which adult education can support lifelong learning, promote inclusive growth, and drive sustainable development in a world increasingly characterised by increasing disruptions. Particularly relevant are the discussions on the intersection of adult education with issues such as digital inclusion, gender equality, indigenous knowledge, and economic resilience, each providing fresh perspectives on how adult education can be a powerful catalyst for social transformation. As you explore the research presented here, you will find a diverse array of approaches that not only address the ongoing challenges but also offer visionary solutions for a future where adult learning remains central to human development. On behalf of the editorial board, I extend my gratitude to the contributors for their dedication to advancing the field of adult education and to our peer reviewers for their critical insights that have helped shape this collection. We are confident that the articles in this issue will inspire further research, policy development, and practice in transforming adult learning and education in the face of contemporary development challenges.
